New Delhi: A group of female lawyers said on
Monday that the impeachment proceedings
should be initiated against Madhya Pradesh High
Court judge who has been accused of sexual
harassment by an Additional District and
Sessions Judge in Gwalior
Addressing the press here, senior lawyer Indira
Jaising said, “MP's should initiate impeachment
proceedings against the judge.” She also said
that the Chief Justice of India should order an
inquiry on his own in the matter.
“The accused judge should suspended from all
work,” she added.
The
group of lawyers have moved a resolution in the
Supreme Court Bar Association seeking enquiry
into the matter.
A sitting judge of MP High Court has been
accused of sexual harassment by an Additional
District and Sessions Judge in Gwalior. The
controversy erupted when she resigned citing
alleged sexual harassed by the judge.
She said that the judge wanted her to perform
an 'item song' at his house, as per reports. The
judge transferred her to a remote place in the
state when she refused to yield to his advances.
It was also said that he could not find any fault
in her work.
Throwing more light on the matter, she further
said that the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh
High Court had declined to meet her. In such a
scenario she had no option but to resign.
Meanwhile, the accused is said to have
approached the Chief Justice of MP High Court
regarding the matter and has reportedly claimed
that the charges being levelled against him are
false.
The judge also said that he should be hanged if
found guilty.
